Richard was born in Whitley, Texas to Earl & Bonnie jean Reed Hasty. When he was one, they relocated to Tennessee in a little town called Shelbyville. By the time he was two, his daddy built a house in a hollow where his grandparents lived. They were his paternal grandparents. He had many good times at his grandma's house helping her. He did chores at 5am before he went off to school, like calling in the cows & herding them. His dad was a preacher so he was a pk, preachers kid. He took piano lessons for a year at the tender age of 11.

He attended Flat Creek Grammar School until he headed off to high school at Shelbyville High. He enjoyed playing basketball in high school. He graduated in 1969. He got a job after graduation & got married shortly after that at the age of 19. He soon had 2 children with Carolyn Garrett Hasty. Steven Earl was born in 1971 and Angela Leigh in 1973.

Richard worked hard all of his life having various, good paying, jobs! He supported his family and was a good man. He loved playing the piano and was very good at it. He played in churches and helped start several of them. He was a very loving & giving person. He helped so many people with different things.

Richard married Charlotte Harris Ryan in 1990. He helped with her 3 sons & thought of them as his own. They were married for 23 yrs. After the children were grown & gone, Richard & Charlotte retired in Florida and lived there 7 yrs. Due to his health problem, they returned to Tennessee, where Richard passed away soon after their return. He enjoyed his life in Florida, playing music with friends and going to the beach along with other things to do in florida. You could say, Richard loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. He is greatly missed by family & friends.~~~~~~~but we know that he is with God, and he loves being there! Praise the Lord!
