His Life
September 30, 2014

Dick was born in San Mateo, California on July 16, 1943 to Charles and Hilda Glasspool, the youngest sibling to sister Marian and brother Bud. Dick graduated from UC Berkeley with a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and later graduated from the University of Maryland with a Masters Degree. He married Barbara Priest and had two daughters, Charis and Katie. Dick's passion for computer systems kept him active in the early days of Silicon Valley, and led to a position with Olivetti as the lead developer of the operating system for their Windows PC clone. With his success, he built his dream house in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

On a business trip to Japan, Dick met Yumiko, and soon remarried. In 1985, the dream mountain house was lost in the Lexington fire, so Dick and Yumiko bought a house in the town of Los Gatos, where they have resided since.

Dick had a passion for science, astronomy, tennis, golf, bridge, music, playing the piano, home additions, genealogy, and traveling. He enjoyed being social, and welcomed many into his home for parties. Dick was friendly to every single person he ever met.
