Richard W. Ray passed away at his Venice, Florida home on Saturday, May 14th, 2013. He was born in Marion, Indiana on April 7th, 1931 to Robert Ray and Lurene G. Bishop Booher. He graduated from Marion High School and was a veteran of the US Navy.

Richard graduated from Indiana University, obtaining a BS and Doctor of Jurisprudence at the School of Law. His law office was located in Marion, and he served as a public defender and a Grant County Juvenile Referee before retiring and moving to Florida in 1997. Richard was a Life Member of Indiana University Alumni Association, Delta Epsilon Fraternity, and Venice American Legion Post 0159 and Moose Lodge. He was a former member of Marion Aero Club, and Meshingomesia Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy, daughters, Leeann Ray, Karen Ray and brother,Sydney Ray, sister, Ramona Gardner; stepchildren, Jerry Hodge, Jackie Ide, Jill Hurley, and Melissa Powell; grandchildren, Quade, Phoebe,Fynley, Tony, Callie, Jerod, Mary, Allison, Sarah, and Daisy; and nephews and nieces.

Military Honors, service and burial will be 11am Friday, May 17, 2013 at Sarasota Florida National Cemetery.
