Comfort amidst the Craziness

August 31, 2014

Rich and I shared an ABUNDANCE of experiences through our years together, some scandalous, some incredibly soulfull in tender personal ways. There were ALWAYS humorous sparks through the trials and characters that wandered through our saga, but through it all we had an epic bond unlike any other.

Above and beyond any flamboyant mischief we romped through, despite all our individual quirks and aggravating characteristics- we were bound to each other by such intense feelings and creative intrigue...an Uber-friendship led to an incomparable life together that only love would rule over.

I know so much was expressed through our actions (or lack of), by boisterous plethoras of words I showered him in most times. Entangled by unseen connections both emotional and physical, we never entirely grasped but would always cherish each other; despite the outcome fate brings.

The thing that will forever leave a deep comforting impressionin my heart is a discovery I made of a behavior Richard only displayed while I slept. He ALWAYS took the time to spread a blanket or cover me with a sheet before he left the room. ALWAYS I woke up tucked into the bed, comfortable despite his absence. That will stay with me FOREVER, a real gesture from his heart that spoke volumes without so much as a whisper... true to his very nature! When I woke to discover him in the act of doing this, I didn't let on that I noticed the first couple of times, it was inarguably sweet and noble in a way. But my curiousity got the better of me, so I inquired about this behavior of his to observe his response and try to gauge this behavior. Many times, this was my ticket to open him up so I could read where he was coming from. [Rich was a man of measured words often times, unless he was singing them!]

The simplicity of his answer was sweet...

"You were curled upinto a ball, and fidgeting-  I could tell you were cold, so I covered you."

Thanks Richard- you REALLY did have me covered... :-)
