A visit to the Georgi with Grandpa
In the fall of 2013 I travelled from Texas to Shushan, NY to visit with my grandparents and all of my other family in the area. I hadn't been in many years and a good visit was long overdue.
Grandpa has had his artwork in the Georgi Museum before, and currently had a painting there but they had asked him if they could have another to display. While I was visiting, he and I went to bring this painting to join his other that was currently being displayed.
It was a beautiful day and I was thrilled to go do this with him. I was so proud of him for having his artwork on display at the Georgi!! And I remember how modest he was about it all. It is a great honor that he appreciated tremendously, yet he remained very humble.
We spent quite some time there, walking around and looking at all of the things to see. He knew something about everything in there: When it was made, where it came from, who made it, things about their lives. Things that someone only knows because they truly care.
This is a day that will stay with me for all eternity. It was a wonderful afternoon with my Grandpa and I, and I will be back to the Georgi soon to see what new items are there. Maybe I'll get a chance to share information about my Grandpa and his artwork with someone while I'm there!
