Her Life
February 4, 2014

Rita Paula Cain passed away on February 3, 2014 at her home on the peninsula in Long Beach, CA, following a brave battle against cancer. She was born on May 22, 1932 in Hollywood, CA, and moved to Long Beach in 1941 where she attended St. Anthony's High School; following graduation she worked briefly in the aerospace industry before launching a very successful career in real estate, culminating with her own business JTM Brokerage.

Rita loved to travel and from her early 20's she embarked on a journey to Europe purchasing a Karmann Ghia car for her travels from country to country which she then shipped back to California; not only did she bring back her car, but other small treasures that became the seeds of her art collection. In the early 1960's she traveled to Puerto Vallarta where she purchased a home with her first husband Leroy "Butsy" Jensen. Rita and Butsy had one daughter, Tamara Jensen, who traveled with them on their annual visits to Mexico.

Rita was thoroughly delighted when she met and married her second husband retired U.S. Navy Captain Jim Cain and she was able to literally travel around the world. Rita and Jim were married for 14 years until his passing in 1998.

In recent years, Rita spent time with friends on cruises, visiting Puerto Vallarta, and delighting in her 10 great nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister Sandra Perez; nieces Pilar Perez, Mara Perez and husband Lionel Kozaczinski, and Michele Perez and husband Nicolas Saignac.

Nieces and Nephews: Antonio, Lucia, and Diego; Antonia, Alexis, Graciela, Paloma, Emiliana, Diega, and Rafaela

A Memorial Celebration will be held on February 23 from 5PM to 8PM at Rita's favorite restaurant: Fuego's Luna Solstice Terrace, Hotel Maya, DoubleTree by Hilton, 700 Queensway Dr., Long Beach, CA. 90802
