Miss Rita LaShund McDaniel of Columbus passed away Wednesday at Midtown Medical Center. She was 46 years of age.

A daughter of the late Charles, Sr. and Jessie Johnson McDaniel, Rita was a Columbus native and attended Jordan High School, graduating with the class of 1988. She was a member of the Bread of Life Christian Center where she served faithfully with the Choir, Ushers Ministry, and was known for her fabulous "sweet tea" and as the "Candy Lady". She was a homemaker who was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa McDaniel.

Surviving her departure with cherished memories, include: her son, Desmond T. McDaniel (Raechelle); six sisters, Ruth Skinner (Bishop L. D., Sr.), Linda Lyles, Delores McDaniel, Shera McDaniel, Gloria Thomas (Dexter) and Diane Johnson (Ralph); four brothers, Charles McDaniel, Jr., Gary McDaniel (Tammy), Shephen McDaniel and James McDaniel; four god children, Charity, Moeisha, Coryana and Diamond; loving and devoted friends, Marilyn Raglon (Larry), Sherily Davis (Allen), Roberta Hill, Lakeitha Flowers and Jimmy Carter; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
