This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Robert Ephraim Cohen, of blessed memory, 80, born on March 2, 1936 and passed away on March 1, 2016. He was a father, a grand-father, a brother, an uncle and an entertaining friend to many.
Robert was the first generation to be born in France where he lived all his life. His parents were from the former Ottoman Empire; Salonika (Greece) and Bursa (Turkey). He was an avid traveler and he spoke 5 languages. He was very interested in history and especially the WWII period that (sadly) marked his childhood forever. "Robertico" survived the Holocaust as a hidden child.
He had great passion for the Sefardi culture; litterature, music, and he loved the cuisine of course! He spent most of his retirement time to the revival of Judeo-Espagnol / Ladino, the language of his beloved "Nona".
He had an amazing talent with words and a caustic sense of humour. He published 13 novels in French (some of them were translated in foreign languages) between 1968 and 1975, and multiple articles in French and Ladino publications.
He will be terribly missed and we will remember him forever.
