West Brighton native Robert Foster, 66, of Tobyhanna, Pa., a retired New York City Transit employee, died Wednesday in Moses Taylor Hospital, in Scranton, Pa.

Mr. Foster was born and raised in West Brighton. After he and Mary Padovano wed, the couple moved to Port Richmond. He also lived in Rosebank until relocating to Falls City, Neb., but returned to the Island to live in South Beach before settling in Tobyhanna.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Mr. Foster worked as a conductor for New York City Transit for about 20 years, retiring when he was 50 years old.

While living on the Island, he attended masses at Holy Rosary R. C. Church, South Beach.
