I first met Robert when we worked together at Agillion in about 1999.  Even in that hard-charging startup culture, Robert stood out as somebody who works really hard and wore a smile while he did it.

After Agillion, we kept in touch and I have fond memories of going to lunch with Robert through the years.  It seems like every time I went to lunch with him, something significant had changed in his job and he had learned some new technology.  Rob Norris and I used to say that when we needed to pick a new technology, we would call Robert and find out what he was working on.  Robert worked so hard and learned so fast that he always had something new up his sleeve.

I learned a lot from Robert.

Thanks Robert (and Will)

This is a picture of Robert Rasmussen and William (Will) Wu, together at my wedding on November 15, 2014 in Austin, taken by Greg King another friend of Robert.  Robert is the main person responsible for me moving to Chicago from Houston, way back in 1998, where he and I both worked for Inforte Corp, where Will also worked.  Through Inforte, I've met a great group of friends, including Will and his wife Jan who introduced me to my wife Amanda.  These two guys are most responsible for me meeting the love of my life.  Thanks Robert!

Three funny stories

September 14, 2015

I met Robert while working at Parker Square Bank in Wichita Falls TX. Robert was fifteen years younger than me—making Robert about 22 yrs old. Arriving to work one day Robert was standing with another guy the same age as Robert. Robert said "Janell do you know the name of the new song by Chris Isaak?" I immediately said "Wicked Game" and before I knew what was happening Robert grabbed me jumping up and down and said " I want to be as cool as you are when I'm old!" I was only 37 yrs old!!!!

Robert rented an apartment about three blocks from our house. He began coming over every Sunday night to eat dinner with me and my husband Larry then we would watch the Simpsons. Mind you I don't know how this started because we never said "Robert come over on Sundays" but as any 22 year old would do he just started showing up. We loved Robert and loved that he felt comfortable enough to show up any time.

Another time Robert and his friend Brad stopped by our house on their way to a club. They had a bet with each other on who could dance with the girl with the biggest rear end! The next day at work I ask Robert who won, he said "Oh Brad did, I just couldn't do it."

Robert made me laugh every day. He was like the son we never had.
