The Ghost Rider

July 6, 2014

Altho I don't remember that I was ever subject to a specific curfew hour when I was in High School, there must have some kind of upspoken expectation. I was mobile and had access to a car from about sophmore year forward. Nevada runs on a 24/7 schedule and since most dances or similar school activities closed about midnight there were always 1 or 2 choices of places in Lovelock to eat, and a bar that had a dance floor with live music or records and would let us dance. So post event eat & dance & social activities followed by whatever were appropos detours on the way home were common. Since I had a car I was often the driver with passengers to drop on my way home. Sometimes it was 2-3-4ish A M hours when this car would pull up alongside mine (usually parked somewhere on a back road around Lovelock). It would be "Brother Bud" who rolled down his window and in a very quiet low-key manner would suggest I head for home soon, because Mater had sent you to check on me. THANKS!
