Robert was a trust-worthy and faithful professional friend who was always willing and eager to help out at my Candleberry Inn B&B & Day Spa in Greer. He was so positive about life and an encouragement to be around. My son, Joel-David, worked under Robert when it was time to do his internship training. This friend was then introduced to me, and it was a joy to have him give special attention to my guests/clients and their special needs as a massage therapist. I loved to talk with Robert about living life but most importantly about spiritual issues knowing the serious teaching of Christ that salvation and eternal life are not through our own good works but through repentance and receiving Christ by faith as our Lord and Savior. Nothing we do or achieve can grant eternal life, but salvation is a gift given by Christ alone because of His death on the cross. He, by the work of the Holy Spirit, is our only hope for salvation! Robert was so devout and attentive to the needs of his church. These are the truths I wanted to share with Robert as we talked. Some would call it “The Roman Road:”

Romans 3:10 As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Romans 6:23a For the wages of sin is death

The Good News
There is good news! God loves us so much that He offered His only begotten Son Jesus to pay our sin debt for us. This is a gift. The gift is available to every human. When we believe that Jesus died for us to pay our debt, personally, we can have life ETERNALLY. At the moment we believe in what Jesus did on the cross, our destination changes from hell to heaven when we leave this earth!

Romans 6:23b but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord
Romans 5:8 But God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Jesus did it all—Is not this the most wonderful promise to all of us who are still on this earth as we say goodbye to our dear Robert?? “You will be missed.”
