His Life

The son of the late Mr. Robert, Sr. and Mrs. Jimmie Smith Morris, Sgt. Morris was born in Hartford, AL and was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church where he served diligently with the Ushers and Audio Ministries. He was a t U. S. Army Veteran of 23 years, and following retirement worked as a cable technician with Civil Services, Ft. Benning, GA. Mr. Morris attended Columbus Technical College and Meadows College. He was also a member of the Controllers Civic and Social Club, the American Legion Post 267, and the DAV Chapter #56. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Morris, his daughter-in-law, Ruthie Morris, a grandchild, Krystal Butts, and a sister, Bernice Coates.

Surviving is departure with cherished memories, include: his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Katie Carroll Morris; two sons, Major (Ret) Robert L. Morris and Atty. Gregory Morris (Ann); one daughter, Diane Morris; six grandchildren, Marilyn Morris, Atty. Lauren Morris-Turner (Terrence), Katia Holloway (Troy), Austin Morris (Shanise), Alisha Butts and Jourdan Morris; three great grandchildren, Jourdan A.M. Morris, Kayla Turner and Carter Morris; a brother, Nathaniel Smith (Ida); a sister, Mary Armstrong (Hosea); a sister-in-law, Irene Johnson; devoted nieces and a nephew, Judge Wende Morris, Belinda Medley and Mickey Coates; loving cousins, other relatives and friends.
