What wonderful words!! All so true and spot on, thank you for that! And for making me cry :)

You are all blessed to have such rooted friendships!

October 23, 2016

How lucky so many of us were to grow up in Bellevue. We were fortunate to make lifelong friends. We were blessed, sweet Bob, was one of them. We loved this man with all our heart.

Gary grew up with Bob. They went all the way through school together, playing sports going to dances, (with girls), belonging to a different clubs, plus enjoying numerous parties and other outings. They were two of the good guys.

Gary and I made a lot of fun memories with Bob and Linda over the years. We enjoyed boating with them, we joined them on their summer vacations, we went skiing with them, shared many meals with them and drank a ton of wine with them. Their home and hearts were always open.

Five Wolverine men, and their lovely wives, ( Bob and Linda, Bill and Jean Parent, Jack and Carel Volkel, John and Janey Campbell as well as Gary and I);  have gathered every summer and at Christmastime to celebrate our friendships and share stories. We've lost count on how many years  this tradition has been going on, and it will continue.  We've shared happy times and sometimes sad times.  Such deep and rich Friendships you seldom find.

While Bob was fighting his battle, we tried to be there for him. He was a proud and private man. He never liked to talk about his health issues, but always wanted to know how we were doing. On our last Wolverine gathering, this past September,  we were somewhat skeptical, thinking it might be time for us to say "goodbye" to our dear friend. Linda had mentioned that Bob would like to see the "gang". When we arrived at their home Bob was looking as handsome as ever. He had a blue sweater on and his blue eyes sparkled and He had that huge smile on his face. Bob was asking us all sorts of questions, avoiding us asking him any. We shared old stories and lots of laughter.  We had a marvelous time being with our friend. It was so like him to make us comfortable and  to make sure were having a good time. Once again, Bob put us first.

While Bob leaves us with so many fond memories there is something else that he left us. He left us Linda, the woman that made him so happy, who shared and followed his dreams, who stood by his side "in sickness and in health"; who honored his wishes and loved him unconditionally. What a special couple they were. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.

Bob will live in our hearts forever. ❤️❤️❤️
