I am so sorry for your loss.
Roger Lee Overton, Sr., 81, a lifetime resident of Granville County passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at his home.
A native of Granville County he was the son of the late Harry Lee Overton and Clarice Rogers Overton. Roger was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a retired supervisor from Athol Manufacturing in Butner.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 4:00 P.M. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church by Dr. Marc Tilley, Rev. Tommy Robertson and Rev. Roger Lee Overton, Jr. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Averette Overton of the home; a daughter, Robin Lewis (Jim) of Virginia Beach; two sons, Roger Lee Overton, Jr. (Jill) of Gastonia, Robert Overton (Kristy) of Spartanburg, SC; a step-son, Michael Cash (Debbie) of Cary; four sisters, Carrie Bell Gillis, Bonnie Floyd, Gail Miller all of Oxford and Vivian Wright of Henderson; four brothers, Wayne Overton, Leonard Overton, William Overton and Donnie Overton all of Oxford and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday October 15, 2017 from 1:30 – 3:45 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 745, Creedmoor, N.C. 27522.

We wanted to say that Roger will be truly missed by all of his coworkers at Hertz/RDU. He was a beautiful, fun, lovely man, and we all really enjoyed our time with him. He was a bright light on the dullest of days....always a word and a smile. We love you, Roger.

Bernice and I were surprised and saddened to learn of Roger's passing yesterday. We've shared some great times together with him over the years since since God brought us "home" to the PGBC family 39 years ago. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with the whole family at this time. We love you all.

Roger and Carolyn are the most wonderful people. Over the last 7 year I have grown to love them both like grandparents. They have always been there for me. I will miss you so much Roger Doger (that's how he introduced himself to me) you were an inspiration. Our hearts may be broken but God definitely received an angel when he got you. Carolyn if u need anything I will always be here for you. I love you

Dad & my son, nieces & nephews Grandpa will be missed greatly. He always said he didn't care what his grandkids were doing he enjoyed beng there watching. He laughed & said if it was tiddlywinks he would be there too. Rest in Peace Dad. We will meet you again in Heaven.

Robin, Roger,Jr and Robert l am sorry for your loss of your dad. So many memories of him and your Mom when we were all stationed at Fort Gordon Ga. Robin l remember so we'll when you were born l stayed with your Mom at night when Dad had guard duty. When we all left service we all remained friends and visited each other. I have lots of pictures. I am sure Mom and Dad will be glad to see him and all the memories they will share. My thoughts, heart and Prayers will be with you all during the coming days and months ahead. Trust in God he will give you strength and comfort. Love and Prayers to all you!!!

It is with great sadness that I learned that my beloved cousin left the presence of our company. He was always loving and caring to everyone in the family and I will so miss his presence, his strength of character, and the example he set for all of us. May his love forever surround all of those who knew him and may his spirit live within all of us.
