His Life

Ronald David Singleton was born October 25, 1941 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Armand and Cecelia S. Singleton. He was the youngest of twelve children and was preceded in death by his parents and seven of his siblings. Ron’s formative years were spent in Lake Charles where he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and attended its school. After being honorably discharged from the U. S. Navy, he attended and graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana. For over thirty years he served as a Human Resource Specialist, Director and EEO Investigator with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Tuskegee and Montgomery, Alabama. After retirement he worked for Victoryland in Human Resources until his health began to fail. Ron attended St. Joseph Catholic Church throughout his years in Tuskegee, Alabama. He was married to Vanese Elaine Williams on June 28, 1974 in Tuskegee, Alabama. This union was blessed with one daughter, Shana Cecelia Singleton. He transitioned into eternal rest December 12, 2014. 

Those left to cherish Ron’s precious memories include his loving and devoted wife, Elaine, his loving daughter, Shana (Derrick), Powder Springs, GA, his precious grandchildren Amber “Gabbi” (a freshman at Tuskegee University), Jestin and Quentin, Powder Springs, GA, and his special extended family Jackie and Whitney Hodges, Powder Springs, GA. He will also be missed by other family members who include his brothers, Harold (Nancy) and Patrick Singleton, sisters Deloris Hadwen, San Francisco, CA and Katherine (Nick), Los Angeles, CA, devoted cousins Laurence “Chummie” Darbonne and Sylvia, Lake Charles, LA., his in-laws Barbara (Alfonza) Menefee, Tuskegee, AL, Ed Van (Shilda) Williams, Carrollton, VA, Denise Lockett, Tuskegee, AL, Aubrey Dale Williams, Ellenwood, GA, Reymond (Ella) Williams, Tuskegee, AL and Winston (Paula) Williams, Montgomery, AL. Ron also leaves many loving nieces and nephews of whom he was so very proud and cared for deeply.
