Bob Woodward recruited me from Data General in 1982 to be the Federal District support manager. A year later, Rosalie lured me away to become the technical support manager for the CIA account. I learned much about the importance of looking at issues from the customer's perspective. When a security failure of one of our Tempest computers was detected and confirmed, Rosalie worked tirelessly with me using her authority and savvy to coordinate the swapping out of ALL of the computers manufactured in the same lot and their replacement with new ones at no cost to the customer. For me, it was a frightful experience but for Rosalie, it was just another few days of long hours at the office.

Rosalie was a very special person. So fun loving and kind. She hired me at Wang Laboratories in 1972 and guided me along the way to a wonderful career (19 years). I have very fond memories of my years working with her.

When I started at Wang Labs, I was young and impressionable. Rosalie, along with Diane Bergeron, were my role models. Rosalie was larger than life. She lit up a room, she had a generous spirit, she was full of energy and fun; yet she was also an amazing business woman who breezily held her own in a male-dominated upper management world. I smile as I remember her, and I know, as good mentors and role models often do, she in some way helped shape the person that I am today. Older and wiser, but hopefully still carrying a little glimmer of Rosalie Papoutsy with me each day. For that, thank you, Rosalie. May you rest in peace in a heaven that is even brighter with your presence.

Adventurous and generous certainly describe Rosallie's spirit. While on this earth, she experienced in her years more than most ever will. Seeing her in these posted photos illustrates this, and they give me joy. Rosallie lived for her work, but her travels, her life experiences, her beloved family and friends and her faith are what sustained her. Rest in peace, dear Rosallie.

Solvenia with the vermont girls and the wonderful meeting up with the "Greek" girls. Rosalie in her cashmere night wear, shopping, talking and sharing in her adventures. I still have the coat she made me buy which she said would never go out of style. She was right . What a joy to have shared some memories with her.

My memories of Rosallie are carried close to my heart. I joined Wang as a young manager and she took my under her wing. She taught me how to be a tough yet compassionate leader and the importance of understanding the politics of your work environment. Long after I left Wang, she continued to serve as a mentor. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity of working with her. Heaven has welcomed home one of its angels!

Meeting in Turkey

February 11, 2015

The first time I met Rosallie was at the airport in Turkey. She had a cart filled with suitcases, bags over every shoulder, and a big hat. First thing she said was "they lost my bags!" those were her CARRY-ONS!

From there we became best friends. She had the smallest cabin and I went in to finder her one night...I asked her where her luggage was (as her LARGE suitcase finally showed up) and she had put it in the shower/toilet as that was the only place if fit. In order for her to get into her suitcase she had to move pull it off the toliet.

The final night Rosallie (and I) had a big fight with the Turkish Captain. She yelled at him in Greek. That night late I had returned from the  island and was sleeping on the deck. Rosallie couldn't find me in my cabin and thought that the Captain pushed me over. She went on and on about "What did you DOOOO with her" and then she came to the deck, dressed her her flowing white nightgown...and called out "KATTTTHYYYYY, KATHYYYYYY" , I was sure she was a ghost.

We had SOOOOO much fun on that first trip..visiting the Ceragan Palace for drinks on the Bosphorus, taking local buses around the city our last day to interesting neighborhoods, then small boat across the river.

The first of MANY adventures. She loved Turkey so much...and then took her parents back there when they were 80 to stay at the palace.

I think this story section is perfect for Rosalie. I say this because every time I saw her she would have such an amazing story to tell. Some stories were funny, some unimaginable and some just left me speechless and in awe. What a colorful life she had filled with remarkable stories.

I always looked up to Rosalie and all the wonderful things she accomplished in her life. Her career, her friends, her family, her travels and her spirit for life were truly remarkable. Let Rosalie teach us all a lesson; live every day to the fullest, live your life and never look back.

Here's to you Rosalie, I hope you are creating new stories in heaven. God gained an angel.
