Dear Rose

July 25, 2023
You were a stern mother, rightfully so.  I bet it was not easy being a single Mom.  At the time I did not think much of it, but now I am mature like you were, I realize the stress factors of rearing children.  You were a busy lady.  And how did you all fit in that tiny house?  No one complained.  Your children have done well.  Maybe Cecil updated you already.  I was hoping to visit him in Louisiana.  Charles and Calvin did.  :)   I'm so sorry that Cecil passed so young.

You worked at Fortlands.   Your children learned from your examples; hard worker, bread-winner.  I vividly remember your smile and vaguely remember the conversations we had as neighbors.  I still have not forgotten the day you pulled my hair ?to get my attention.   As a child it was traumatic; i remember thinking how dare you. You had an angry streak some days but in an ok way.  I forgave you.  Those moods were short lived. Probably I was mischievous!  I still like you alot.  I see your features in your children for sure.  They are go-getters.  Sorry about the way you passed.  Wish I could have said goodbye.  Rest in peace Rose.

YOU WERE OUR QUEEN

July 29, 2013

Born on the 24th July Rosetta Irene Harvey also borne a son on the same day )Ivan). She was a hard working lady who dislike dirt she use to have us shining the yard without removing the dirt from it. She taught us to clean, cook, wash, iron, read , write, pray and many more things that will remain with us forever.

Mother Rose as she was affectionately called was a strong God fearing woman who always walk wherever she wants to go, even when I got my licence and want to give her a lift home with those heavy market bags she would say take the bags and I will walk, many times it brought tears to my eyes to leave her in town and take home the bags but she insist.

Her punishment to us if we fail to take heed to her instructions were metted early in the morning while we sleep, because her saying is that foul that sleep on roost no hard to catch.

On the 2nd of December 2002 when she had indicated for the first time that she was not feeling well and was turned back from the hospital. We therefore forced her to see the doctor and was told that she must come back the thursday because some fluid was in her  body she got worse and was ordered to the hospital the next day, I took her to the hospital via the ambulance she walked to the stretcher and lie down after fixing the stretcher bed. The ambulance attendance had wanted to take a short cut with her but changed his mind, she continued to open and closed her eyes after indicating to my sister who taught she was grumbling and did'nt ant to go to the hospital that she was making it right with her God whom she served and taught us to fear and love.

Upon reaching the hospital she indicated to me that she would like to pray with her only sister Whillimena  who was praying with her earlier that day.

I left the hospital to go and pick up her sister about 2 miles away when the clouds burst and we were blessed with some 10minutes of solid rain.

Returning to the hospital with her sister and removing the curtains I realized that the ivy was removed from her vein and some blood has gushed out before I was removed by the nurse who said te doctor have something to say to you I started to cry as hard as the rain before I was told  WE LOST HER. it was over just like that. Her sicknes was short and she always said don't keep her. Her wish was carried out and she was laid to rest on the Friday. GONE TOO SOON........

Forever remembered by Youngest daughter and her four other loving children Cecil, Nora,Ivan & Ruby..Grand and Great grand children and many many relatives and well wishers.
