I worked as a barboy and later a bartender at the Top of the Wheel at Harvey's from 1972 to 1973. I loved Ron Rose and Dave. What a treat for me to have them playing night after night right in front of me. I still think of them from time to time and reminisce . Man, that guy could play.

A few days before his passing, my grandpa asked why I was so upset. "I'll be here. We'll all always be here. Our voices will always be here," he said. His smiles, warmth and laughter will be with me forever. One of the best men ever, he built an empire. We live it. Thank you grandpa.

One of the nicest men I ever knew. Just a great guy. It was always a pleasure to play music with Ron. I will never forget our trip to San Francisco to play for one of Ron's long time fans at his anniversary!

Sweetest tunes on earth came from his hands. As the wife of sax player Dan, I was always welcomed and treated as one of the family. I wonder if I can find some of the old pics that I took during those years...Thank you, Ron, and thank you, Toots, and all the family for showing us how to live our lives.

My heartfelt sympathies to Toots, Sandy, Rhonda, Jeff, Lynda, David & the rest of the Rose gang. Going all the way back to jam sessions in Ohio, many fond happy times were spent with Ron, Toots & kids. When I think of Ron, I always think of his delayed reaction to some joke that was told. It would be a while later & Ron would start laughing his unforgettable laugh. I can still hear it! RIP

'Papa Piano' was a beautiful man who was one half of the mass that served as the gravitational center of a dynamic, extended family. His loss will be felt like that of the loss of half the Sun both in warmth and in focus. We will be less without you Grandpa.

Rupert Ronald "Ronnie" Rose entertains guests in the Sage Room of Harvey's Wagon Wheel Saloon around October 1958. As "Big Rupe," he plays Virginia City Julie, a refurbished Comstock-vintage piano from St. Mary's in the Mountains Catholic Church in Virginia City, named after the famous Virginia City courtesan Julia Bulette.

Well remember Dave Rowner (?sp ) waving his drumstick in greeting as we sailed past the check-in station at TOTW. So sorry that we have lose those who are so talented while being great human beings.  Glad to know that Ron had such a wonderfrul, loving family and that he had the time to watch his tomatoes grow. I have always tried to do the important thing and memories of Top of the Wheel are recalled with a very special import.
On behalf of the entire Evans family I wish you all the best. My dad Hugh was ever a fan ( passed way far to early in 1983 ) and sister Cindy still plays piano when  called upon.
Take care and know that we respected and loved RR.
