"I want to offer my condolences to the Barnett family. It truly hurts when a love one dies, even Jesus wept when Lazarus died. Jesus promised at John 5:28,29 that all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out and our Creator promised to get rid of death forever at Isaiah 25:8 "He will swallow up death forever..." I hope these words give you comfort."
"Wishing Ruth a Heavenly birthday. My mother went there in June of this year just shy of her 90Th birthday. Perhaps they can get together and celebrate.I"
"I am sadden to hear of the passing of Ruth. I will always be grateful for the love, guidance, and encouragement she gave to me many years ago as a student teacher living in her home. Barbara, Ruth, and the girls were my family while I was away from home. There is no one with a sweeter spirit than Ruth. May God bless the family and may you find comfort and peace in your wonderful memories and in the joy that so many people loved her.
"Ms. Barnett was a candle shinning for everyone, her light will continue to shine for all that knew her. Rest in peace..."
"Ruth Barnett was loved by all at Clubview School. She made a difference in many young lives. Ruth was a wonderful colleague."
"My heart and prayers are with the family at this time. Ruth Barnett was one of the main reasons I became a teacher. I was a paraprofessional in Rhonda Vansant's kindergarten classroom at Clubview School around 1985. My husband had many medical problems and I was struggling to provide for my three children. "Miss Ruth" encouraged me to go to Columbus State, (CSU) and obtain my teaching degree. I had stayed at home with my children and would be a 38 year old freshman. When I was apprehensive about that she said, " Becky, you are going to be that age no matter what, go for it". And I did. I enrolled in the Adult Reentry class, got my teaching degree in 1991, and went to Troy at Phenix City to get my Master's Degree. I am now retired after being a teacher at River Road School for 24 years. This was all possible because Ruth Barnett had Faith in me. She helped me as I continued to be a paraprofessional by day and a student by night. Her encouragement was always so uplifting. Through the years, I tried to encourage other paraprofessional to continue their education and would relay what Ruth did for me. I lost touch with her and so now I am hoping and praying that She will somehow know how very much she has meant to me throughout these many years. So sorry for the length of this. Just wish I could have relayed this to her personally . One other thing, I was always amazed at her talent to make anything out of construction paper. We would need something and she would get her scissors and whip it out."
