Let the memory of Ryan be with us forever

Army Sgt. Wood was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany. Wood died of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Ryan graduated on June 9, 2002 from Putnam City North High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He served 2 tours in Iraq with his second tour due to end on October 12, 2007. Ryan was a born leader, a patriot, a soldier, and much more. He was respected by the soldiers under his command – they were his brothers. The names of two of his fallen Marine brothers were tattooed on his chest, "Mock" and "Sizemore" – Sgt Willsun Mock and Sgt Garth Sizemore. Ryan loved alternative rock, playing the guitar and spending time with friends and family. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a zest for life and was devoted to his family, friends, and the men that he served with. Ryan was an accomplished and talented artist who had just been accepted to the University of Central Oklahoma where he planned to major in Art and Political Science. He was a kind and gentle soul with a big heart.
