Sara Jane (Mirusso) Vecchio

Sara Jane Vecchio, nee Mirusso, 88 of Mullica Hill, New Jersey, born August 7, 1924, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at Ardens Courts in Bloomington, Delaware.

Sara was a former math and science teacher and homemaker. She was a member of the Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mullica Hill, New Jersey. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1942 from the University of New York at Fredonia. She married Joseph Charles Vecchio on April 2, 1945, and together they raised six children.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Rose Mirusso, and her two brothers Anthony Mirusso and James Mirusso. Surviving is her loving husband Joseph, and her six children, Jay Vecchio of Mullica Hill, New Jersey, Dale (Patricia) Vecchio of Belleville, Illinois, Neal Vecchio of  Columbia, Maryland, Dean (Mary Jane) Vecchio of Mullica Hill, New Jersey, Kevin (Patricia) Vecchio of  Gainsville, Virginia, and Laurie Stanton of West Chester, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Shannon Sullivan of Cleveland, Ohio, Alexandra Elizabeth Vecchio of Chicago, Illinois, Alissa Vecchio of Mullica Hill, New Jersey, Deanna Vecchio of Mullica Hill, New Jersey, Christopher Vecchio of Gainsville, Virginia, Timothy Vecchio of Seattle, Washington, Jimmy Stanton of West Chester, Pennsylvania, and Tori Stanton of West Chester, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mayme Joy of Fredonia, New York and Marie Spicola of Bradenton, Florida; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Family and friends may call Friday, January 25, 2013 at 12:30 pm at the Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit, 17 Earlington Ave., Mullica Hill, NJ 08062, where Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 pm. Burial will be in the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown, NJ.
