Mrs. Satunja Janise “Toot” Lovelace Johnson was born on January 17, 1966 to Martha L. Lovelace and Alton l. Scroggins, Sr. in Troup County. She departed this life Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Vista Care Hospice, Atlanta, GA, in her mother’s arm, along with her family members surrounding her.
She was a graduate of West Point High School’s Class of 1984. During her high school years, she was very active. She was a cheerleader captain, 1984 Homecoming Queen, Senior Superlative, Point-Guard of the varsity basketball team, and best all-around.
Mrs. Johnson united with Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully until health declined. “Toot”, as she was called, loved to cook for her family and friends. She was a very loving person inside and outside. She loved everyone that she encountered. Whenever you saw Toot, there was a warm greeting along with a smile. She never met a stranger.
Satunja was united in Holy Matrimony to her high school sweetheart, Mr. William C. Johnson, Jr. Under this union, she was blessed with three children.
She leaves to cherish wonderful memories, her husband, Mr. William Johnson, Jr.; one son, Demonta (Alisha) Lovelace, LaGrange, GA; two daughters, Saquaria (Quincy) Johnson, LaGrange, GA; Ayanna Johnson, Marietta, GA; a devoted mother and father, Martha (Howard) Davidson and Alton (Estella) Scroggins, Sr., West Point, GA; two grandchildren, Makiya Rhodes and Taylor Lovelace, LaGrange, GA; six sisters, Erika Davidson, Sejuana Scroggins, Vanstashia Huguley, Candance McQueen, Ashley Bonner, all of West Point, GA; Rachel Lowry, LaGrange, GA; three brothers, Horatio Davidson, Rochester NY; Pedro Davidson, Valley, AL; Alton Scroggins, Jr., West Point, GA; a special aunt, Shirley Holloway, Jacksonville, FL; a cousin whom she reared as her own, Jasmine Lovelace, West Point, GA; very special friends, Rebecca Bailey, Lanett, AL; Doris Avery, LaFayette, AL; Madalyn Lee, Tawana Brewer, Kathye Scott, Chris Gilliam, Michelle Davidson, Brandon Murphy, all of West Point, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
