Your death has turned out to be one of the greatest ironies of our time .In your life time political adversaries ganged up against you. They maligned and condemned you .Yet,these same people now turned around to identify with your ideals and eulogizing you to high heavens .They have now testified to your charisma and the justness of your cause .Sleep well and a fleet of angels sing you to eternal

Although I have not met Senator Pius Ewherido in person, all that I have heard and read about him since 2007 during the Delta State Governorship campaigns till now are statements of inspiration, emulations and encouragement. It is sad that at this critical time in Urhobo nationhood, we have lost a man like Senator Ewherido. I pray for God's support & strength to his wife and family. Amen.

Your death was a shock to me as it was to all democrats in Nigeria. Your humility and service to mankind was equal to none. It was the first time that Delta Central felt they had a true representative in the Senate. You were committed to improving the lives of your people and bringing in needed development to your constituency, You will be truly missed. May God grant you eternal rest.

You are the voice of the voiceless and the champion of the marginalized and deprived Urhobo nation. He was the political Fulcrum in Delta central and Delta state at large. You are embodiment of legislative processes.
The Urhobo nation will miss you greatly. Your death has created a vacuum; who is that mortal that can fill it? No one!!!

Senator Pius Akpor Ehwerido: Senate sets up nine-man burial committee

The Senate has set up a nine-man burial committee to liaise with the family of its late colleague, Sen. Pius Ehwerido, just as it adjourned plenary session in his honour.

Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba (PDP-Cross River), who on Tuesday in Abuja moved a motion to the adjournment, said the Senate had suffered an unspeakable loss.

“There is nothing on our order paper; this is deliberate because on June 30, we suffered an unspeakable loss. One of our best and brightest passed on.

“So, I move that we observe one minute silence in his honour, and adjourn till Wednesday,’’ he said.

The Senate President, David Mark, said the proposed debate on the report of the 1999 constitution review committee which was to begin on Tuesday would also be postponed to July 9.

The Senate observed a one-minute silence in honour of Ehwerido and adjourned the session since there was nothing on the order paper for consideration.

The committee is to be chaired by Sen. Suleiman Adokwe (PDP-Nasarawa) with senators James Manager, Ifeanyi Okowa, Olushola Adeyeye, Enyinnaya Abaribe, Ita Enang, Nenadi Usman, Gyang Pwajok and Joshua Lidani as members.
