Gauthreaux, Sgt. Jay Ryan, U.S. Army A native of Vacherie and a resident of Fort Hood, Texas, he was entrusted to God's loving care on Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, in Baqubah, Iraq, while heroically serving his country. Jay was 26, a loving father, son, brother and hero. He graduated from St. James High School in 1998. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was serving his second tour of duty in Iraq when he was killed in action. He was a devoted father, a loving person and hero to all. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, will commence on Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Visitation at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Vacherie, on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, with the Rev. Michael Miceli, celebrant. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. Survivors of Jay include his son, Devin Ryan Gauthreaux; his parents, Michael and Wanda Acosta Gauthreaux, Gonzales, and Faye Tregre and John "Doug" Crawford, Fulton, Mo.; sister and brother-in-law, Monique and Lance Bergeron, Thibodaux; three stepsisters, Brittany Yarbrough, Geismar, Brooke and spouse Chris Robillard, Rome, Ga., and Crystal Waddell, Liberty, Miss.; two stepbrothers, Brian Crawford and Tommy "TJ" Crawford, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; two nieces, godchild Callie Bergeron and Bailey Yarbrough; three nephews, Landon Bergeron, Brant Yarbrough and Ezra Robillard; and three grandmothers, Claire "PNut" Gauthreaux, Mildred Tregre and Ruth Acosta. Jay is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by three grandfathers, Edward Gauthreaux, Guy Joseph Tregre and James Acosta; and two uncles, Dale Gauthreaux and Mickey "Jughead" Tregre. Active pallbearers will be the U.S. Army. Honorary pallbearers are Jared Homer, Adam Roussel, Ben Roussel, Jonathan Bilbao, Lance Bergeron, Terry Loupe, Brad Hymel and Kevin Gauthreaux.
