It is so wonderful to know so many friends of Shelli will have so many fond memories. As her younger sister of 10 years, you would think that we wouldn't be as close as we were, but I am so happy to know that Shelli and I were as close as two adult sisters could be. Sharing things that were only shared between us and two hour phone conversations and lunches that always ended with "I love you."
Even as a small kid, Sheli always included me in her festivities. Everything from allowing me to participate in backyard olympic trampoline obsticle courses with her frineds on Moraga Ave, to (one of my fondest memories) dressing me up in a torn white t-shirt and giving me a hairdo to rival the best teenagers, writing "Duran Duran" and "I love John" all over it in sharpie pen, and taking me out on the town in Chico with her friends. I think I was 7?" She would rather have me experience her life than have to babysit me at home.
Even when she moved away from home to places like San Francisco or San Luis Opisbo, she would still make the time to call me eventhough I was all of 11 or 12 years old and would talk to me for hours on the phone and would let me play my piano songs over the phone to her.
Just a few months ago we were talking and laughing about our childhood and we were discussing how her and Kim used to share a room. We started laughing our butts off talking about how intrigued I used to be by her The Cure Head on the Door poster she had in her room and all the influences she had on Kim and I. Just like Heaven Shelli. I told her "thank god, you were never into country music! " I told her she did a good job making sure I grew up right, and smart, and with it (I hope).
I love you sis, and you will influence me everyday for the rest of my life!
