Shirley's Life

November 1, 2011

Shirley was born on January 18th, 1961, to James Frank and Edna Taylor Davis, the 11th child out of 12, 10 of whom are still living.  They were a poor family with so many mouths to feed and little work to be had,  but her parents did their very best and no one ever went hungry.   She was a very loving, affectionate child,. and always seemed to be starved for attention, leading her to marry at a young age to a man who was not very kind to her.  She moved to Florida with her young Aunt Peggy, who was only a year younger, and it was there that she met and married the love of her life, Lee Yocum.  Lee was not a wealthy man either and was never able to give her much in the way of material things, but he did give her the love she needed.  She always wanted children, but had great difficulty in conceiving, and it wasn't until Shirley was in her 40's that their daughter Cindy came into the world.  Shirley's life was filled with health concerns, including a battle with thyroid cancer, which she won, diabetes, heart disease, and several others.  She had a deep faith in God, and had no doubts about her eternal life.  And now she is wrapped in the loving arms of her Mom and Dad, who have gone on ahead of her, and of her loving Father and his precious son Jesus.
