This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Sir, Dr. (Obong) Okon Inyang (FNIM,Hon.D.Litt.,KJW), 73, born on February 13, 1925 and passed away on October 23, 1998. We will remember him forever.

You were simply an enigma; pioneer university graduate of Ikono Nation (1956), pioneer Lay President of the Methodist Diocese of Ikono (1993-1998), founding Principal of the Methodist Boys High School, Nto Ndang (Jan. 1962), elected un-opposed as Honourable Member of the Federal House of Reps representing Enyong North-East Federal Constituency (1965), Principal, Methodist Boys High School, Oron (1969-1971), Chairman, South Eastern State School Board (1971-1974), Director of Schools, Federal Ministry of Education (1974-1984), appointed Pro-Chancellor & Chairman of Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (August 1984-January 1986), Chairman Cross River State Local Government Service Commission (1985-1987), pioneer Chairman Akwa Ibom State Local Government Service Commission (1987). A valued father, friend and counsellor willing to spare no efforts or expenses to please others; It is still difficult to speak of you in past tense. widely travelled gentleman and God fearing Christian.
