When I became a member of the 4 C's Board of Directors, I met its chairperson, Sofia Mendoza.  As the years went by, I learned ofl the struggles that its CEO and Sofia went through fighting for money in Sacramento to provide funding for low income familes in Santa Clara County to provide child care so their parents could go to job training, school, or get a job to improve the quality of life for their families.  She served 4 C's in many ways in different areas, including the senior center.


The last time I talked with her, she told me of her last visit to see Johnny Mathis.  How she loved his singing.


Sofia will be missed by so many in her family and many friends.  She helped so many people while she was here.  I so enjoyed hearing her stories.
