|Let the memory of SPC Christopher be with us forever|
SPC Christopher Alexander Patterson, age 20, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 while proudly serving his country in the Kandahar Province in Afghanistan. He was born April 17, 1991 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Robert and Mary (nee Schneider) Patterson.
A 2009 graduate of West Aurora High School, Christopher was continuing his studies in music education at Valparaiso University in Indiana. He was a member of professional music fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and toured with the school's premiere vocal ensemble, the Chorale. Christopher also composed and arranged music with a cappella group VuVox and for the West High STUDy Hall Choir. Christopher was co-captain and first board for the West High Chess Team and was honored to be under the tutelage of Robert Payne.
Coming from a strong military family, Christopher enlisted with the Indiana National Guard and served as a 12B Combat Engineer with the 713th Engineering Company (Sapper) based out of the Valparaiso Armory.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Mary Patterson of North Aurora; his three brothers, Carl Patterson; Sean (Anna) Patterson of Plainfield, IN, and Thomas (Robyn) Patterson of Indianapolis, IN; his paternal grandparents, Durland and Sally (nee Clark) Patterson of Plainfield, IN; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Claire (nee Dux) Schneider of Wild Rose, WI; his godparents, Kathy and George Jirasek of Wild Rose, WI; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He is also survived by his "adopted" siblings, Billy Czech, Aaron Foster and Candace Robinson.
Christopher loved God,his Country and Music. He was a Music Ed major
at Valparaiso University when his unit was activated for Operation
Enduring Freedom. He choose to go with his unit rather than stay
behind and finish his education. He was so proud to be a Combat
Engineer Sapper and serve his country. He loved his Lord and served
him in many ways. He will always be remembered as the guy who could
make you smile.
"Happy Birthday, Christopher. We miss you here on earth, but know you are with the Lord in heaven, one year of forever with Jesus. We will be together again. Love, Aunt Kathy and Uncle George"
