Spencer Lynn Hockaday, 17, of Spotsylvania County passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011.

Spencer was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a member Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was a captain of the Spotsylvania County High School Varsity baseball team, played basketball and was a baseball umpire for Spotsylvania County Park and Recreation. He was involved in a mentoring program and worked at American Family Fitness. 

Survivors include his parents, Amos and Tracie Hockaday; his brother, Mitchell Hockaday; His sister Cassie Hockaday; his paternal grandparents; Louis and Beverly Hockaday; his maternal grandparents, Edward and Gail Massey and Linda and Michael Brown; his great-grandmother; Catherine Massey; his aunts and uncles, Vernon and Connie Hockaday, John and Donna Hockaday, Shawn and Dana Hockaday, Tiffanie and Lou.

He was preceded in death by an aunt, Paula Massey Bounds
