Stan was my favorite "Gentle Giant". Whether we were sitting at the kitchen table talking about "the mill" or laughing over something the bunnies were doing-he was a calm, loving and kind man. I remember the time that he, Dee and Dorathy came over helped me get my Aunt Esther's bedroom ready (because she was coming to live with me. Always handy with a helping hand!! love to all of you!!

These words by a servant of God remind me of Stanley. "A man's success in life is measured by the love and respect bestowed upon him by his family, friends and neighbors. If a man's children have loved and honored him throughout his lifetime, then he was successful in life" being blessed by God for his Christian principles.

We are fortunate we were able to share some of Stan and Dee's Minnesota visits -- always such fun company. We will miss Stan's dry humor and plain talk. Our hearts go out to the family.

Stan and I were first cousins and grew up together. My first memories of him was when we played in the cotton wagon while our moms was picking cotton so many years ago. Stan will be missed by all who knew him. God Bless Dee, Nate and Kate at this time of sorrow.

Stan was my cousin and although we didn't grow up together, we had the opportunity to spend a couple days together when he came to visit along with Dee, cousin Al & wife, Nui. It was a wonderful time looking at old family photos and visiting and eating. I'm grateful for that time.
My heartfelt sympathy goes to Dee & all Stan's family.

The first time I met Stan, my impression in him has been the same until now that Stan was steady, deliberate, kind, generous, and thoughtful. This is a truely said about Stan from my feelings.

Dee, Kate, Nate my thought is with you.

Sending love to the Eagan Family. I will miss seeing Stan at the VU basketball games and occasional meet-ups in the grocery store where he was always so willing to chat and catch up! May he find peace in heaven.

I didn't have the opportunity to meet Stan, I only know him through the love Kate had for him. That is enough for me to know we have all lost a special soul. His was a well-lived life. Prayers and love to all of you during this difficult time.

Stan, I think my Mom and Dad and Uncle Jim are greeting you with open arms as are Uncle Dean, Dale, Kenny and Lyle. I'll miss your wonderful smile and deadpan sense of humor. You always made me laugh. Just know you'll be missed more than words can express.

Dee and Family, our prayers are going out to you.

About this photo

September 23, 2013

This photo was taken about 1948-1950 in the front yard of our Carpenter grandparents. The shrub directly behind Stanley was still there in 2009 and had grown to a height of about 50'. The building at the treeline in the background was the "outhouse".

Stan was an outstanding poker player and well loved by everyone at the Westville American Legion.  He will surely be missed by everyone.

It will never be the same without Stan next door. Hearing his laugh through the windows and the always friendly waves as we come and go. Stan and the whole family are so kind, generous and fun-loving. Having such great neighbors has always been a comfort to us. Stan was always ready to give a helping hand or borrow his tools-but we enjoyed the get-togethers and conversations the most. He will truly be missed. The kids are blessed to have had such a wonderful father and Dee a wonderful husband-you will carry him with you in your heart at all times. Just know that we are here and we care and are so very sorry for your loss. Claudia, Chris & Hef.
