I can't believe it's been 1 year already. I can still remember all of the pictures that I posted, as if they were taken yesterday. I hope all is going well on the other side Dad.

Love,

Alan & the entire family

He wasn’t the loudest of the group
He never said too much
The life of the party he wasn’t
But he was always onlooking and observing, always taking in the bunch

He wasn’t wealthy and rich
Money was always too tight
We always had to skimp and save
But somehow, he would always make things happen and tried to make things right

He doesn’t always know the right things to say
Many of times, words came out wrong
Or words were not even exchanged
But love is the very thing, that kept us right and strong

He wasn’t superman, all muscle and strong
With no long red cape
He appeared simple and bare
But with his inner strength and fearlessness, that at night made us feel content and safe

He was no singer
Sometimes couldn’t even hold a tune
But many times, he would try to play the harmonica
To provide us some music and melody, that would make us swoon

He wasn’t selfish
He always thought of everyone else first
He would give others the clothes off his back
If that meant that it would help them out of their worst

He didn’t always have free time
Work was where most of his time was immersed
It was hard at times to not be able to go to events with him
But he was always the first to arrive at parent-teacher conferences to let us know we came first

His English wasn’t perfect
Sometimes it was difficult to understand his words and its meaning
His sentences may not have made sense
But he would still try to teach us and make sure we were learning and improving

This is our loving husband, father, and grandfather
His name was Sui Yu Lee
He wasn’t popular or famous
But to us, he was the example of how true love and selflessness can help make you the person you want to be

Dad,

Thank you for teaching us the value of hard work and perseverance. Growing up, both time and money were short in our family. You and mom worked more than 80 hours a week and 7 days a week, while raising 3 kids. Yet, the only reward that you needed was the success and happiness of your children. It still amazes me that you can work your whole life, save every penny, and then spend it all on your children's college education without hesitation.

I miss our mini-vacations to Windsors for dim sum, walks around Southland Mall before you went to work, picking you up early at work so we can make French fries, going to Taco Bell on Wednesday's and then going to the mall so I can yo-yo for hours as you sat and watched. These aren't fancy vacations or trips around the world, but there's not a single trip I can take, that would surpass these memories.

I promise that I will be a great father, maintain a strong work ethic, and raise my family as tirelessly as you had. I promise to continue your legacy and see the parts of the world that you never experienced.

Please say hi to Paul for me. We will say our farewells on Friday, but I know you and Paul will continue to watch over our family. We miss you and love you very much.

Love,

Your Son - Alan

Father-in-laws

February 6, 2017

I always enjoyed our joint Father-laws time together.  Sitting side by side just watching, listening and especially cherishing hearing our kids laughing/enjoying each others time together.
