Susan Marie Meiergerd was born February 20, 1967 in West Point to Raymond and Genevieve (Stalp) Meiergerd. She attended Pebble Valley Catholic School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1985. Susan attended Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD, received her doctorate from Washington State University, and pursued additional education at Emory College in Atlanta, GA. Susan worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM and had currently been with Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque for 16 years. Susan was selected Scientist of Distinction in 2011, and she was a marathon runner. Survivors include her father Raymond “Ray” Meiergerd of West Point; brother Daniel (Leta) Meiergerd of Dodge; sisters Mary (Tim) Sine of Wright City, MO, Lois (Tim) Urwiler of Laurel, Jean (Michael) Kresnak of Wauwatosa, WI, and Rita (Mark) Kreutzer of Holdrege; nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her mother Genevieve “Jenny” Meiergerd in 1994.
