HOLDEN/ PUNTA GORDA, FL -- Terrence J. O'Brien, 73, formerly of Holden, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2015, at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, Florida. Terry was born and raised in Worcester, the son of Edward J. and Elsie May (Mellor) O'Brien. He lived in Holden for 41 years before moving to Punta Gorda, Florida in 2014.

  Terry leaves his beloved wife of 48 years, Dianne (Courville) O'Brien; two sons, Daniel E. O'Brien and his wife Kelly of Holden, and Kevin W. O'Brien and his wife Melissa of Auburn; a brother, Edward J. O'Brien of Delray, Florida; three sisters, Maureen Carpenter and Eileen Philip both of Worcester, and Kathleen Lucier of Rutland; his cherished grandchildren, Emma, Connor, Sullivan and Perron O' Brien; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Terry was predeceased by a sister, Anne Marie O'Brien.

  After graduating from North High School in 1960, Terry enlisted in the Air Force where he served in the Strategic Air Command (SAC) and specialized in computers, a skill he loved and was able to turn into a lifelong career. After his honorable discharge from military service, Terry earned an associate's degree from Worcester Junior College. He worked in the Information Systems and Computer Services Department at Norton Company in Worcester for 30 years retiring in 1995. Before moving to Florida, Terry had been a parishioner of St. George Church in Worcester. Terry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was known for his love of gardening, fishing, vacations in West Dennis, and spending time with his family and friends.

  Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Terry's family from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 14th at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on, Monday, June 15th at St. George Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 72 Cambridge Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
