His Life

Mr. Thomas L. Coley, Sr. was born March 1, 1946 in Alexander City, Alabama to the late Rufus and
Annie Coley.

He confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Cross Key Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R.V. Vines. He graduated from Laurel High School in 1964. After graduation he moved to New York and from there, he joined the U.S. Army and faithfully served from 1964 to 1967.

On August 8, 1967 he married the love of his life, Shirley Vines and to this union two children were born. He received his associate degree in Textile Technology from Opelika State Technical College on December 15,1975. After 35 years, he retired from Russell Corporation.

He was proceeded in death by his parents'
Rufus andAnnie Coley; two brothers, Rufus Neal and
Robert Lewis Coley; one sister, Tillie Michelle Coley.

He leaves to cherish his memories of 48 years;
his wife, Shirley Vines Coley; two sons, Thomas L
Coley, Jr. and Derrick M. Coley of Alexander City
Alabama; one sister, Mrs. Maxie Johnson of Opelika
Alabama; one brother-inlaw, Ralph and (Jean) Vines
of Glendale, Arizona; three sister-in-1aws, Betty
Nelson (Johnny) of Chicago, Illinois, Carolyn
(Richard) McDonald of Columbus, Georgia and
iernice Crawford of Cincinnati, Ohio; two
grandchildren, Thomas L. Coley, III and Macayla
Marbury of Alexander City, Alabama; a host of nieces
nephews, cousins, friends and Chapman's Garage
story-telling buddies.
