Thomas DeWitt Woodlief, Sr., 77, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away May 12, 2018 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.


He was born in Vance County, the son of the late Thomas Lee Woodlief and Gertrude Blalock Woodlief. Mr. Woodlief was a longtime active member of Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church where he served as Past Treasurer. He served in the NC Army National Guard, farmed for many years, and retired from the US Postal Service.


Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church by Rev. Bruce Brooks. Burial will follow the service in the Church Cemetery.


He is survived by his wife of over thirty years, Angela C. Woodlief of the home; sons, Thomas D. Woodlief, Jr. (Vicki) of Oxford, Todd Woodlief (Shelle) of Colfax, Jeff Smith (Kitty) of Marshallberg, Steve Smith (Myla) of Greensboro and a daughter, Amy Tyler (Paul) of New Bern; nine grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Stone of Duck, Frances Hedgepeth of Angier; brothers, Bobby Woodlief of Creedmoor, Ted Woodlief of Oxford and many loving nieces and nephews.


Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 12:30 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service in the fellowship hall of Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church and at other times at the home.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund, 4404 Fairport Rd. Oxford, N.C. 27565 or to Hock Family Pavilion, 4023 N. Roxboro Rd. Durham, N.C. 27704.
