Time is Growing Short My Love

May 14, 2018

Thomas for the last 5 months I have resided at Middletown Manor Park Rehab in Middletown NY. It is a very nice place and I know you are watching over me. The Doctor gave me 2-4 months to live because my lungs were dying and I only had 5% of both lungs left alive, the rest of my lungs had died. He said there was a possibility I could live a year, but he didn't really think so. Well I am in my 5th month, but the last few days my lungs are failing more and more. I am not afraid because I know you and God will be there to bring me home. Part of me died when you did. I have talked with God and in prayer I give thanks for our 42 years together. I try to walk the path He chose for me and I can only hope I am fulfilling my promise.

I love you honey.

Thomas & Children

October 29, 2015

Thomas loved children.  He always made sure each child visiting recevied a dollar out of his pocket.  It didn't matter is if it was one child or ten, they all got their dollar.

One memory that sticks in my mind was on a weekend when we were at a cookout down at Eagle Harbor on the river bank.  Many of the children wanted to go into the water so Thomas cut his jeans off and went into the water with them so he could make sure they would all be alright. He spent all afternoon looking after the kids.

Another instance I remember is the occasion when we took our godchild home with us for the weekend.  We called our godchild "Boo" , lol I don't know how he got that name.....  But anyway it was around 8pm and Boo kept asking to go to McDonalds for a Happy Meal, so Thomas finally took him.  I began to get worried when they had not returned by 10pm.  But finally they came home and I found out that Boo was playing on the McDonalds slide and toys they had in the play room and Thomas sat there and let him play.

Thomas was always happy when he was around children.

Money, Money, Money

October 19, 2015

Thomas used to love to play the numbers.  He would always play his numbers on the way to work.  One day he came home with a big smile on his face and proceeded to pull out money and put it on the table.  This was back in the 80's and things were tight for us then.  Anyway he put $5,000 dollars on the table.  We were both so excited because it would pay off some of our bills.  But that evening when the numbers came on tv, Thomas started shouting  that he had won again.  This time he had won $2,500. The next morning was Saturday, so he ran out to play his numbers and came back home. I ran to the bank to deposit the money and pay bills. I got home about 1:15pm and Thomas met me at the back door, he had won another $2,500.  He knew where there was a van for sale and he wanted to use that money to see if he could get the van.  So away we went and I don't know how but Thomas talked the man into selling us the van for $2500.  So that was one lucky week for Thomas.  He was a happy man......

Fishing Trips

October 15, 2015

Thomas and I had a very close relationship with Dee Estep and Vincent Proctor. We usually went fishing together every weekend.

There was one time that Dee and I were down on the pier we had just cast our lines out and was waiting for a bite, when all of a sudden this big head came up out of the water.  It was a fish.... I don't know what kind it was because I took off running back up the pier and by the time Thomas and Vincent got down there the fish was gone.  Needless to say, I would not fish off that pier for the rest of the day. They tried to tell me it was probably a Carp fish.  Well I don't know except I had never seen a fish with that big of a head!
