TIMOTHY CHARLES TRACY

1948-2014

Menlo Park, CA – Timothy Tracy, 65, passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2014, after a 10-month, heroic battle with cancer.

Tim was born on December 22, 1948 at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, California to Chrystal E. Courier and John (“Jack”) E. Tracy, and spent his early years in the Sacramento area where he attended St. Ignatius Grammar School and graduated from El Camino High School. He worked for several Bay Area industries before joining United Airlines in 1987. Tim was employed as a store keeper with United Airlines at the time of his death. This world will not be the same without his gentle spirit, booming voice, and wonderful smile.

Tim is deeply missed by his loving wife, Lynne Anne Tracy, her children Melanie Clowers and Tom Deane, their spouses Jeffrey Clowers and Kjerstin Deane, as well as Lynne's grandchildren, Brandon and Julia Clowers and Amariah and Kathryn Deane. Tim so loved these children and became a loving, generous and memorable grandfather to them. Tim is also survived by his older brother Jim and his wife Terri, his nephew Anthony Hamilton and his wife Karen, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Tim was predeceased by his infant sister Sharon, his oldest brother John and his parents.

Tim is known for his sharp wits and quick comebacks and enjoyed a variety of interests including art, history, politics, religion, science, movies, music and sports, and he loved his San Francisco Giants! He also coached a women’s city league baseball club in San Francisco. He liked that the women would listen to his coaching – he said men do not listen. They do what they want.

Tim was very knowledgeable about cars and trucks, and road trips were his favorite. Tim and Lynne traveled back roads throughout California and especially loved the coastline. Tim could fly anywhere, but driving relaxed him. He loved nature and also enjoyed walking, hiking and cycling, and he also fished off the Mexican coast in his younger days.

Tim loved jazz, blues, and rock and roll and had a collection going back to the 1940’s. Lynne introduced him to the San Francisco Symphony, which he loved and was amazed at how it affected him. He became good gardener at home and loved flowers and colorful shrubs. Most of all he loved his grandchildren. Christmas and birthdays were so much fun for him because he loved to give.

Tim’s family is thankful for the wonderful life he lived and shared with Lynne and her family and friends, as well as with Bethany Lutheran Church in Menlo Park. His family is also most grateful for his outstanding longtime friends from Sacramento and coworkers in the United Airlines community. Thank you all! The family extends a special thank you to Mele, his caregiver and her family, Kaiser Hospital Redwood City, Hospice, and the Lutheran Church community for their special support. In lieu of flowers, Tim's family requests you might donate to Lutheran Social Services of Northern California.
