Todd's Birth

March 25, 2015

I was involved in a serious car accident when I was almost 7 months pregnant and went into labor shortly after that.  I was in labor for 4 days.  The Doctors would walk me up and down the hall, put me into hot and cold showers all in the hopes of helping the baby down the birth canal.  They couldn't give me anything for pain as it would affect his heart rate and put the baby in danger.  Finally they gave me a shot of iron.  I can remember the Doctor say "we are losing her" and the next thing I recall is thinking is "where is the party?"  Todd was trying to come out one arm and one leg first so the Doctor turned him and he was born shortly after.  He weighed 4 pounds even.  My Dad cried when he saw him and told me he didn't think the baby would live.  The Doctors told me the same thing but I was adamant that he would.  Todd was exactly 1 month old the first time I got to touch him. He came into the world violently and left it the same way.  So very wrong.  Todd used to say when he was little that he wouldn't live to see his 25th Birthday.  I wonder if some people are born with that kind of knowledge.
