Tom “Bo” Cox III was born June 29, 1949 to the late Tom Jr., and Eula Cox. After the death of his parents, James and Annie C. McFarland assumed the role of guardians. Bo was preceded in death by one brother, John Alfred Cox and two sisters, Mary Ann Cox and Martha Ann Cox-Henderson. Bo entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Southern Regional Hospital in Riverdale, GA.

 

Bo was educated in the West Point School System. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1967, where he had a love for Shop. Bo entered the workforce at Lanett Mill and then worked for West Point Foundry until Retirement. Afterwards, he developed a love for gardening, walking, watching Politics and talking “period”.

 

Bo was joined in Holy Matrimony for 46 devoted and loving years. Into this Bo and Catherine were blessed with 4 children.

 

Bo accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John Church. During his time within the church he served in many capacities. He was a devoted member of the Deacon Board, Trustee Board, Finance Committee, Male Chorus, and Chairman of the Cemetery Committee. Bo also served as Treasurer and Chairperson of the Finance Committee.

 

Bo was affectionately known for his “BIG” smile that would brighten any room that he entered. He had a genuine care for his Family and the Church.

 

Bo leaves to cherish everlasting memories a devoted wife of 46 years, Catherine Cox, whom he loved dearly. Three loyal sons, Tewellis “Tony” (Ida) Cox of Ypsilanti, MI, Steven Cox (Andrea Johnson) of Jonesboro, GA and Derrick Jackson of Columbus, OH. One loving daughter, Starla Cox of West Point, GA. Two Brothers; Willie C (Phyllis) Cox of Ellenwood, GA and Larry Hodo of West Point, GA. Five sisters n law; Mary Askew, Shawmut, AL, Marva Jackson, Columbus, OH, Mary (Russell) Kennedy, Jonesboro, GA, Earnestine (David) James, LaFayette, AL and Earnestine Jackson of LaGrange, GA. Two brothers in law; Earnest (Jackie) Jackson of West Point, GA and Velma Jackson of Columbus, OH. Four grandchildren; Corey Cox, D’Tone Cox, Korin Cox and Camryn Stargell. Two great-grandchildren, Adonis Nixon and Nyx Nixon and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Special friends; Kenneth Ward, Robert Atkinson, Kyle Brooks, Terrance Ross, Marcus Frazier, Larry Zachry, Vance Johnson, Oreatha Hardy, Calvin and Joann Williams, and Eulace (Francine) Billingslea.

Bo also became a constant confidant in the life of Henry Thomas and they developed a long lasting friendship.
