Tom had a way about him, people loved him. He was generous of himself to all he met, he thought nothing of taking his last few dollars to buy food for the man who sat in the square begging for money. He would not only buy a sandwhich for the man he would buy one for himself and sit and talk to him. Tom once told me how sad he thought it was that people never look the homeless in the eye or acknowledge them. So for him it was important that he stopped and said "hi, how you doing today" as he passed them just so they knew they were not invisible. His heart was huge!!!
When he moved in with us a few years ago and became part of the neighborhood I was no longer "Dot" to people in the neighborhood but it was now "oh your Toms sister" what a great guy he is he helped me do.........." and there was always a story of how he helped out someone with a car or their lawn or just his time...so I guess that is how I want to be remembered still here, as Toms sister...a sister of a generous man who helped everyone and always had smile.
