My brother, wow, can't believe it has been so long. We had such fun as kids. You and I we the Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn in so many ways. Tragic how time and the demands of life pulled us apart. But, the memories and the LOVE we shared is forever. You, are MY brother. Keep the bow and arrows handy......

A week long trip to Teen Valley Ranch Summer Youth Camp ' - Plumtree. NC

February 16, 2019

It was going to be an exciting summer, for sure. Our youth group of Campbelton Presbyterian Church was awarded with a week long stay in the glorious mountains of the Blue Ridge in North Carolina. It was to be a week of learning, a get-a-way, renewal activities and youth fellowship. Our wonderful advisers and mentors for that week were to be Pam, Clyde, the O'Connells and Ralph and Berth Richardson as well as the staff of Teen Valley Ranch a now well developed youth camp but at that time just beginning to operate and grow in its development. Arriving at the church parking lot and getting into the vehicles for the 5 hour trip, we loaded into our several vehicles and decided to separate the group into distinct groups in case of road problems or breakdowns. That would allow for arrivals to the camp to occur, in their own time, without to much distraction to the planned retreat. I road in the camp van while Tony road in an automobile with the O'Connors who had recently purchase a brand spanking new vehicle of which the smell of new auto was still in the interior. The long road trip was a bit to much for my brother Tony who, unknown to us,  at the time was sensitive to motion sickness. We learned later in that year of '72 after several hours of travel his stomach just couldn't take much more movement and he shower the back seat with the contents of his stomach. We were much more careful after that on the trip home and made the effort to make more frequent "rest stops" to relieve the constant motion. But, it was a GREAT summer for all of us! Love you, brother and miss you terribly.
