Trista was born on June 28, 1978 in Rapid City, SD to Roger James and Myra Jean (Harmon) Meyer. She joined her older sister Meridith at home. At an early age, her family moved to Randall, MN where three more siblings, Richard, Randy, and Tessa, joined her. Trista attended school in Randall and Little Falls, MN and then Sturgis, SD where she graduated high school in 1997. Growing up, Trista loved sports, cheerleading, 4-H, horseshows, and especially loved animals of any kind. She also loved being outdoors, going hiking, camping, and biked the entire 109 mile Mickelson trail in SD. In the last few years she developed a passion for flying, saying she never felt more free than when she was in the air. During high school, Trista started working at Elk Creek Steakhouse where she met and married Mark Allan Lenz, and to this union was born a beautiful blue eyed baby girl, Shyann Amy Lenz. Trista loved her daughter more than anything else in the world. Trista was not afraid to try anything and as a result, had many adventures and held many different jobs; aside from Elk Creek, she worked as a corrections officer for Pennington County Jail, a mail carrier for Black Hills Mail Carriers, and most recently a haul truck operator for Alpha Resources at the Bel-Ayre Mine in Gillette, WY.
Trista is survived by her mother, Myra (Bruce) Fees, Rozet, WY; father, Roger (Leslie) Meyer, Bethel, MN; sisters, Meridith (Scott) Johnson, Gillette, WY, Tessa (Chris) Meland, Sturgis, SD, and Gina Weyer, Sturgis, SD and Tina (Ryon) Palmer, Scribner, NE; brothers, Richard (Sophia) Meyer, Piedmont, SD, Randy (Lori) Meyer, Oacoma, SD, Sean Byboth, Minneapolis, MN, and Steven (Karen) Byboth, Anoka, MN; nephews, Steele Johnson, Blaise Johnson, Ridge Johnson, Korbin Meland, Blake Byboth, and Garett Palmer; nieces, Laika Johnson, Kerrigan Meland, Kwynnlee Meland, Penelope Meyer, Carmen Pryzbilla, Kelsey Byboth and Whitney Weyer; and grandmothers, Coleen Short, Piedmont, SD, Evelyn Meyer, Little Falls, MN and Faye Fees, Opal, SD.

Shyann Amy Lenz, 9, went to Heaven with her mother on Dec 2, 2012 as the result of a tragic airplane crash in Sevier County, Utah.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Our Lady of the Black Hills in Piedmont, SD, with Father Steve Biegler officiating. A second service will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain with Father Guy Blair officiating. Shyann was born on February 4, 2003 to Mark Allen Lenz and Trista Marie (Meyer) Lenz in Rapid City, SD. Her parents later divorced when she was four years old. Shy started school at Piedmont Elementary in Piedmont, SD and then moved to Rozet, WY with her Mom where she attended Rozet Elementary. Shyann and her Mom lived in Rozet with Grandma Myra Fees until buying their own home in Moorcroft, WY. When her aunt Meridith and uncle Scott moved their family to Gillette, Shyann attended third grade at Prairie Wind Elementary, where Meridith taught until accepting a position at Buffalo Ridge Elementary, where Shyann then attended fourth grade. Shyann's Dad, Mark, remarried and gave Shyann a brother, Hunter, and sister, Rayne. Shy loved her brother and sister to pieces and was always so proud of them. She loved spending time with her Dad, second Mom, Lindsey and her siblings. Her dad moved his family to Gillette to be closer to Shyann and spend more time with her. Shyann was an amazing little girl, full of love and hope. She had participated in Girl Scouts and was in the process of joining 4-H so she could show her horse and rabbit. Shyann had an immense love for all animals. She wanted to be a veterinarian so she could always take care of them. She was always drawing, making cards and decorations for everyone. When Shyann was curious about an animal, she spent hours researching and printing off facts about the animal and reciting it out loud to anyone that would listen.
Shyann is survived by her father, Mark Lenz; stepmother, Lindsey (Greer) Lenz; brother Hunter, and sister Rayne, all of Gillette, WY; grandmothers, Myra (Bruce) Fees, Rozet, WY, and Jo Mclaughlin, Seymour, IN; grandfather, Roger (Leslie) Meyer, Bethel, MN; great-grandmothers, Coleen Short, Piedmont, SD, Evelyn Meyer, Little Falls, MN and Faye Fees, Opal, SD; her loving aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.
Shyann was joined in death by her mother, Trista Meyer. Preceding her in death was her grandfather, Richard Mclaughlin, and great-grandfathers, Lloyd Short, Edward Meyer and Glenn Harmon.
