Irreplaceable

Irreplaceable

I was hoping to wake up from this bad dream and go downstairs and see you

singing with the children, to come back from work especially on Fridays for

movie time, or to look out the window and see you taking your normal morning or evening walks, but alas after all these months, you are no where to be found,

My heart bleeds, who will fill this void? Our Lord Jesus knows best. You were not

only my husband's mother, you were a mother to myself and the children, you

showered us with love and care, there is not enough space to recount all, I just

have to say thank you for your devotion and the qualities you taught us, I am so

grateful for the years you spent with us and the wonderful memories that will be

ours to cherish forever. Continue to rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ

We love and miss you.

Best Grandma ever!

Best Grandma ever!

My Grandma was one of the most amazing people I knew. To me she could do almost anything. She was very organized and knew where everything was. She was one of the nicest person. She washed my things, helped me find things, and made things with me. She would wake me up in the morning and tell me to get ready for school. She would always remind me to try and not be late.

I remember when we were outside tending to the garden and lawn. She didn’t want me to do anything but I insisted. She didn’t seem to want to let go, but I was happy that she actually let me help; we had a nice time together.

She enjoyed divers TV shows - in the morning she would watch game shows like ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ and ‘The Price is Right.’ At 5:00 she would watch Family Feud.

My grandma was very special to me. I’m really going to miss her; she was the best grandma ever.

# 1 Grandma

April 23, 2015

My Grandma played a very important role in my life. She instilled discipline, hard work, focus and dedication to my studies in me. She encouraged me to be the best in everything I do – especially my education. She told me to always stay out of trouble - to put it as she said it “Trouble no good.”

She took care of us, from making food for us, helping us get ready for school – (taking us to and bringing us back from the bus stop every day) to encouraging us to do our homework. When I was younger, she always told me to study and do my homework instead of playing video games or watching TV. She was our moral compass, teaching us to love one another and always live and maintain the Christian values. She was a woman of faith.

My Grandma taught me how to speak Igbo (Abiriba) language, since i was a kid. She always made sure I remember my root; she fondly called me Nwoke Ihungwu nde otisi okpo. I have so much fun memories of her from our weekend family movie times, Christmas celebrations and family vacations.

She inspired me so much, I love and miss her. She was the best grandmother anyone can ask for. #1Grandma

On behalf of Ndi Igbo in Oregon and SW Washington I extend our sincere condolences to the entire Ukiwe family in America and Diaspora. The passing of Mama Ure Obasi Ikoro was a blow to all of us. Those in Oregon and SW Washington who had the opportunity to spend the last few years of her life, will surely miss her. Mama Ure, you were a treasure to your family and our entire Igbo community as a whole; you will forever live in our memories.

To our own Dr. Alladin Ukiwe, may God give you and your entire family the strength to bear this loss; our thoughts and prayers are with you. An author once quoted, “Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear”.  “So after the tears have dried and the goodbyes have been said, hold onto the happy memories they will see you through”. Mama Ure’s legacy will forever live in you.

A tribute to the best Grandmother.

A tribute to the best Grandmother.

Let me tell you a little bit about my grandma.

As you all may know I am her name sake, Ure Nena Ukiwe. I felt almost like we were connected because of our relationship. She was the best grandmother any one can ask for.  My Grandma and I always liked joking around, we had many inside jokes from when I was little until now and I remember every single one of them.

She did her best to take care of me and ensured that I was okay along with each of my siblings. Every school day, she woke me up in the morning and ask me to get ready for school. She will make breakfast for us and drop us off at the bus stop and pick me up back up after school. She cooked for me, and made sure I go to bed on time so I am ready to catch the bus in the morning.

She was an amazing person; to me, my Grandmother was an inspirational person. My dad would always tell me how hard working, caring and amazing she was.

I look up to my grandma, she has such amazing qualities and I'm not sure if she noticed and realized how amazing she actually was. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since her passing, she has been there since I was 2 years old with a routine of waking up and saying good morning. Sometimes I wake up thinking, hey I have to say good morning then, when I go downstairs to her room she’s not there.

She is my role model, and I love and miss her deeply.

Thank you,

Ure Nena Ukiwe
