 Her Life

Venus Ocaya-Quieta began her earthly journey on May 26, 1954, in a small and peaceful town of Aloran, Misamis Occcidental, Philippines. She was the youngest child of the three siblings of the late and loving parents, Felix Mahinay Ocaya and Catalina Arabes Ocaya. Her only surviving sister, Clarita Ocaya Sumagang, is the eldest and his late and only brother, Alberto A. Ocaya, the second sibling died in 2003.
She was a loving wife, and a good mother, daughter, friend, and a co-worker. She was a kind hearted woman, smart and full of life, yet secretive at times. She was always smiling and laughing yet a sober face. As a young girl, growing up in the country, she loves the beauty of nature. She lived life to the fullest and always stay in the moment. She embodies to many--what a strong independent woman should look like while being nurturing, caring, giving and loving. She inspired to those who came in contact with her. She brought out the best in almost everyone who knew her.
Venus'   love for education started with her schooling in 1961 in a public school in Lobogon, Aloran, Misamis Occidental. She was a smart and talented student and passed with flying colors every step of the way and finished her Elementary in 1967 as a Valedictorian. She was a graduate of Aloran High School Class 1971, as a Salutatorian. For her way to college, she passed the scholarship test at Mindanao State University in Marawi City. She finished her Bachelor 's Degree in Accounting at MSU-IIT-(Mindanao State University- Iligan Institute of Technology), Iligan City in 1975.   Venus commitment to life- long learning was evident through some trainings and certifications she completed to enhance her professional skills. She passed her licensure CPA Board Exam in 1981, and that make a big twist in her career.
In 1977, she got her first job at MADE, Inc. in Iligan City as a Senior Bookkeeper, and   then transferred to Makati two years later. She became Assistant Chief Accountant after passing the CPA Board Exam. By 1988, she become the Senior Chief Accountant. She availed the early retirement from Made, Inc. (Market Developers, Inc.) in 1998 for her 21 years of service and went to United States for a vacation trip for a month. She loves to travel. Earlier before her US trip, she went to Hongkong and China.
She worked at the office of Mr. Thomas I. Alcantara for a while after her US trip. In April 2002, she was recruited to work for Alsons Land Corporation until September of 2003. By June 2004, she was hired as a Consultant. Then she was hired by Lima Logistics, Inc. , until May 20, 2010. These are all subsidiary of the Alcantara Group of Companies except of Lima Logistics, Inc. of which Mr. Alcantara is the chairman of the Board. She was still the personal accountant of Mr. Alcantara until her untimely demise.
Venus  got married in July 26, 1987 to Rogelio Cortel Quieta. They had only one son, Mark Moses Quieta, who was born in May 24, 1989. Venus loved her family so much. It is her pride and her joy. She does whatever it takes to have a happy , harmonious, loving, peaceful family environment. But her marriage wasn't that great.  She tried hard enough, "To Have and To Hold, Till Death Thou Us Part ", but unfortunately, it failed. She was a good mother and provider to her only son Mac-Mac, whom she loved so dearly. She bought a car and property lot and build  a nice house in Quezon City. She loved her nephews and nieces and proud  to be what they are now. And her only sister, Clarita Ocaya Sumagang, her only brother- in-law, Percival (Boy)Sumagang Sr.,  and her cousins are all close to her heart.
She passed away peacefully in May 21, 2010 at Makati Medical Center of a massive heart attacked. She is survived by her only son Mac-Mac , her husband, Roger for whom her presence will be missed. We were blessed by her presence and the things and the time she shared with us will be missed.
