Verna Oakley Wilkerson, 85, a lifetime resident of Granville County, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Granville Medical Center in Oxford.

A native of Granville County, the widow of Armstead A. Wilkerson and the daughter of the late Willie and Etta Dean Oakley.  She was a member of Stovall United Methodist Church and was retired pharmacy assistant working at Williams Drug Store and Jones Drug Store.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Stovall United Methodist Church by Rev. John Yount.  Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park in Oxford.

Surviving is her son, Armstead “Junior” Wilkerson and wife Kathy of Stovall, a sister, Flora Peed of Rougemont, a brother Herbert Oakley of Stovall, a granddaughter, Jennifer Wilkerson of Oxford, Prissy Wilson of Bullock, grandsons, Jonathan K. Wilkerson and wife Melissa of Oxford, Chad Wilson of Stovall, A great granddaughter, Jordan Paige Wilkerson, three great grandsons, Dylan Wilkerson, Austin Wilkerson, Mason Tuck, and a special niece, Emmie Lou Wilson of Oxford.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Leman Oakley.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 – 1:45 PM, Thursday, March 28th, 2013 in the fellowship hall of Stovall United Methodist Church and other times at 211 Wilson Town Road in Stovall.
