ForeverMissed

This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Vick Spurlock, 42, born on July 20, 1969 and passed away on February 24, 2012. Vic was an amazing son, friend, uncle and brother. When he passed away he had at least 5 good friends who stayed beside him the entire week, which shows you the kind of man he was. He's survived by his mom and dad, Harold & Hildea Spurlock, his brother James Spurlock and sister Joanne Gilley (Spurlock), nephew Christopher, and of course his daughter, Sara, whom he loved with all his heart and glad he found out about before his passing. I'm sure your playing your music in Heaven. Can't wait to hear it again!

Sorry I didn't write on ur birthday but please believe u were thought of! I miss having u here to talk to my friend. I could sure use ur shoulder and level headed advice right now. I still speak of u often, and I know Adam Kerney does as well. He even named a kid after you . He looks in on ur Mom a lot too. I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't been able to do that like I should, so I'm thankful that Adam was also a True friend to you.....not to mention that his wife helps him to honor u a lot too. We miss u Vic. Keep smiling and keep playing that bass!

I think of you often.....sometimes everyday. As the date of your passing gets closer, I seem to think of you more. I miss you, my friend......very much.

I remember the day you spoke to your daughter, Sara, for the first time. When you first found out about Sara, you asked me how you could get in touch with her when she had been adopted out and was under another name. I explained to you that any 16 year old girl knew about Facebook so try reaching out on there. Within 2 weeks, Sara had contacted you and she did this on your Birthday...the day we were also going to Rock on the Range. The entire day you talked about talking to Sara and how it was the BEST birthday present you could ever have gotten. You were the happiest I had ever seen you, until I talked to you about going to New York to see her again. You and I took the trip that I am forever thankful I took with you. You talked, while I listened, about your hopes for your relationship with Sara and you felt cheated out of her life. How badly you wanted the chance to show her you can be a great father and would always be there for her. We stayed in a run down motel so you could get as close as possible to Sara, hoping she'd be able to visit you more. Everyone was concerned about you taking this trip but I knew it was something you NEEDED to do, and had a feeling that I also knew WHY. As much as I hoped that I was wrong, I knew I wasn't shortly after we got to the hotel. I'm thankful the Lord gave me this time with you, my friend. I'm thankful I got to see you at one of the happiest times of your life. Til we meet again....
Love,
Kelly

Proof that hearing is the last to go

January 14, 2016

Before your passing, you had several good friends, including myself of course, standing by your side ,(A testament to what a great person you were).  We were all grief stricken and telling sad stories in the same room as you and I remembered that my grandmother said she was still able to hear me in that state, at which point I told everyone that you could likely still hear us so we should talk about good/fun times.  That's when I decided to tell the story of the first day you were to meet your daughter....you were SO happy and excited that she was coming in from NY and you'd get to meet her for the first time.  You were so worried that you wouldn't make a good impression on her and from the moment you found out about her, she was all that mattered.  Anyway, the day she was due to arrive was a Friday and the people across the street from your moms apparently called the cops on your 2 year old nephew for BEING TOO LOUD, which pissed you off!!!  You started cussing at the cop telling her just what you thought of the neighbors who did this and she kept telling you that if you didn't stop she was taking you to jail.  You still didn't care cuz those people had hurt your nephew so nothing the cop said was calming you down until I reminded you that this was the day you were going to meet Sarah for the 1st time and she'd only be here til Sunday.  Therefore, if you go to jail you won't meet her cuz you'll be in there til Monday.  You INSTANTLY shut up.  It was cute to see how much she meant to you and you hadn't even met her yet.  Anyway, as I was telling this story, everyone in the room was silent when we heard you go "Uh huh" as I was telling how fast you shut up.  Proving to all of us that you could still hear what we were all saying and that hearing is the last sense to go.  I miss you, Vic!!!!
