Victor's Life Story

January 2, 2015

Following the tragic and premature death of our dear brother, Engr. Victor Ihezie, family members came together to share their grief, their loss and their memories of a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and to so many, a very dear friend.  At this difficult time, finding the right words to express how we feel is an uphill task. How can anyone manage to put into words the feelings that surround this real loss when saying farewell to a man of this calibre?

Victor was an embodiment of kindness, compassion, great patience, cheerfulness and a man filled with a great spirit of generosity.  He was loved by his family who will remember him for:  bringing people together; encouraging others to attain their full potential; his ability to share a joke and not be afraid to laugh at other people’s jokes!  Victor was a caring husband and father who loved his wife and children.  He will be remembered for being at his happiest when he was amongst his family and close friends, a brother who can never be replaced and a dear son who was a friend to everyone.

Beyond the immediate family tributes, Victor will be remembered as a man whose destiny was perhaps, in part, shaped by his very early experiences during the Nigerian civil war. Despite settling in the UK, he never forgot his friends and carried everyone along especially the poor and needy.

Throughout his life time, he remained passionate about education and the need to promote educational opportunities for all children especially those in his beloved Nigeria. Many will also recall the contribution that Engr. Victor made to the construction of Terminal 5 at the Heathrow airport and his valued work at many other sites across London.

So, at such a sad and difficult time for his family, we come together to express our love for this great man whose loss we feel so deeply in our bones but who will forever be remembered in our hearts. These tears of ours are at the pain of being apart and all our hearts are broken. However, nothing can take away the memory of a man whom we all loved deeply and with a passion that can never, ever be expressed in mere words.
