Her Life

mom

August 16, 2011

My mom Violet Gonzales was born in Chicago, Illinois to William and Opal Lee Van Dorn on August 14, 1945. At the age of five, her family relocated to Phoenix, AZ. Violet attended a special school in Phoenix until the sixth grade.
Violet worked as a waitress with her mother in a restaurant at the age of 13. Violet met my father Dan Caillouette while she was working in the restaurant. They fell in love and got married in 1961 somewhere in Mexico. Violet was only 14 years old when she married for the first time and she became a stepmother.
Violet and Dan moved to Animas and raised a very large family and took care of their ranch, and all of the animals. In 2004 my father passed away and my mom had to raise three teenagers which we all know is not easy to do.
Violet moved to Deming, NM in 2005. She lived in a small apartment and was not very happy... In 2005 is when I came back into my mom's life. She had joined the LDS church and was so happy that she did and was also happy the day she found out I was giving my life up in Silver City, Nm to come and live in Deming.
My mom and I would do everything together, she liked going to Wal-Mart, the grocery store and she of coursed loved going to the dollar tree. Two years after my return, my mom told me she was seeing Jose Benito Gonzales. She told me she was so happy and that he was treating her like a queen.
I have never seen my mom so happy to be with anyone, as like she was when she was with Jose Benito Gonzales. She always told me she was so happy to have found him. In 2009 Violet and Jose Benito Gonzales got married in Deming.
In 2010 mom moved to Lordsburg, NM and was so happy to be back where she said she belonged. That is where my mother passed away.

Violet had many interests in life. She liked going to church, she would always come home and tell us everything she learned. She liked to cook her way. If it wasn't her way then of cooking that she was not satisfied. She liked to travel except when we took her to Arkansas, she told me that was the last longest trip she is taking.
Violet's favorite colors were red and pink. She loved roses and daisies. She loved planting a garden, and watering it. She had two cats she adored. She taught her cats how to say yes when she asked them if they were hungry.

Violet loved the rain; she would tell me it only rains in the night time so we could not see it. She loved to go for rides in the car every night, especially when it was raining.
My mom had a wonderful life, and I know that she loved each and every one of her friends and family in a special way.
Mom I want to thank you for being my mom and for loving me.....
